Visit to Passivhaus Junguitu houses

On November 9th, taking advantage of the open days of Passivhaus around the world, Playarquitectura together with the Delegation of La Rioja of the Passivhaus Building Platform of Spain visited the Passivhaus homes of Junguitu in Vitoria.
In total, around 20 people attended the visit and were greeted with great cordiality by the owner, Adelina Uriarte, who, together with Iñaki Etxeandia, one of the architects of the houses, explained the design and execution procedure for the development of 3 single-family homes built to meet the Passivhaus standard. The explanation was very interesting and exhaustive, as the architect Juan María Hidalgo, a researcher in training at the UPV/EHU in charge of monitoring the house, also attended the visit and was able to describe the impressive experiences of thermal stability and interior comfort after 9 months of monitoring. The most interesting moment came when we entered the house and the outside temperature went from 10º with wind to 22º inside and Adelina mentioned that this year the heating had not yet been turned on and that it consisted of 3 400W electric heaters, that is, 1.2 KW of total heating power, which translated into euros is about €250 per year to heat a 180 m2 house!!!! On the other hand, we were pleasantly surprised by the silence inside the house, especially the permanent interior ventilation circuit which was imperceptible, as well as the interior warmth of all surfaces, especially the windows.
For those of us who are dedicated to architecture, it seems like a dream come true!!!
We would like to thank Adelina and Iñaki for their kindness and interest during their extensive visit to the Passivhaus houses in Junguitu.
