Concept
The proposed new building is based on the following criteria:
1) Aesthetic integration with the existing building at Avda. Solidaridad 12 due to the latter's uniqueness. The volumetric and façade composition as well as the materials used at Avda. Solidaridad 12 give the building a very pronounced character at the block façade level. To avoid the contrast that a new aesthetic composition would entail, it is proposed to follow a similar volumetric and façade composition with a change of materials similar to the building at Avda. Solidaridad 16 in order to promote integration and highlight the whole, favouring the construction of a more uniform and less strident block façade.
2) Design of a building based on the principles of sustainability, efficiency, health and comfort. The principles of sustainability are achieved through the BREEAM certification that addresses waste management, the water cycle, mobility, good neighbourhood, use of eco-labelled materials and energy. The principles of efficiency, health and comfort are achieved through the Passivhaus Nearly Zero Energy Building standard.
